Keeping safe and
healthy

We know that for some people, travelling to India is a little daunting. Don’t worry, we felt it too before we arrived. But some parts of Delhi don’t look quite like people’s preconceptions. Particularly the diplomatic enclave of New Delhi where the wedding is.

And March is the best month of the year to be in Delhi, with minimal air pollution, blue skies and pleasant temperatures.

If you follow these tips you will be fine

  • Filtered or bottled water

Avoid tap water (even for brushing teeth). Opt for sealed bottled water or filtered water from trusted sources.

  • Watch out for certain foods

Avoid anything raw (like salads or chutneys) or fried in reused oil, unless it’s from a nice place. Ice is fine if you’re at a nice restaurant or cafe. Otherwise, best to avoid.

  • Peel it or leave it

Only eat fruit you can peel yourself (e.g., bananas, oranges). Avoid cut fruit from shops.

  • Take it easy with spice

Indian food can be spicy and oily. Start slow to let your stomach adjust.

  • Hand sanitiser is your best friend

Use it before eating or after touching handrails, money or pets.

  • Bring some medicines

It’s a good idea to bring Hydralyte, Gastro Stop and probiotics — just in case.
